GTA 6 Preorder Guide and Editions: What Players Should Know

Grand Theft Auto VI preorders have been open since late June 2026, ahead of the scheduled 19 November release. This guide sets out the verified edition details, explains the preorder bonus, and lists the precautions worth taking before you pay anyone.

Release date and platforms

GTA 6 is scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two said in its February 2026 earnings update that the game remains on track for that date. The road here was not straight: the game was first announced for Fall 2025, then moved to 26 May 2026, and then to its current date.

A PC version has not been officially announced. Press reports exist, but there is no confirmed PC release or date, which matters for anyone tempted by a PC preorder offer.

The two editions

Take-Two confirmed two editions, with prices reported in June 2026.

  • Standard Edition: US$79.99. The base game.
  • Ultimate Edition: US$99.99. The base game plus extra vehicles, weapons, apparel and some locations tied to Jason and Lucia’s story.

Prices in other regions and currencies can differ, so check your local PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store or retailer listing. The deciding question between editions is simple: whether the extra content is worth the US$20 difference to you. Since full reviews will not exist until launch, some players prefer to preorder the Standard edition and decide on extras later, if Rockstar offers an upgrade path. Rockstar has not announced one, so do not assume it will.

Preorder bonus and boxed copies

Players who preorder or buy the game before 20 November receive the Vintage Vice City Pack. Because the cutoff is 20 November and the release date is 19 November, a purchase on launch day itself still falls inside that window. If the bonus matters to you, keep your receipt and check the store listing for the exact terms in your region.

Boxed copies sold at launch contain a download code rather than a disc. That affects anyone who prefers physical media for resale, lending or offline installation, and it means you will need an internet connection to download the game.

Should you preorder at all?

Preordering is a convenience, not a requirement. Digital copies cannot sell out, so the main practical benefits are the Vintage Vice City Pack and, on digital storefronts, the ability to download ahead of launch if the platform offers preloading. Rockstar has not announced preload timing, so do not plan around a specific day.

The main argument for waiting is information. Reviews, performance impressions and confirmed details about content will only appear around launch. Since the bonus applies to purchases before 20 November, buying on release day gives you that information and the pack at the same time. Players who prefer certainty about their edition choice may find that the simplest route.

Where to buy and what to avoid

The safest preorder channels are the official PlayStation and Xbox storefronts and established retailers. Third-party pages also collect preorder information; a GTA-focused resource such as the GTA6BoostingTeam preorder page can be read alongside the official listing as a point of comparison. Whatever you read on a third-party site, the price, contents and bonus terms on the platform store or Rockstar’s own page are what count.

Watch out for these red flags, which commonly appear around major launches:

  • PC preorders or keys, since no PC version has been announced.
  • Prices far below US$79.99 for a new code, especially from unknown sellers.
  • Offers of early access, beta keys or launch before 19 November.
  • Account bundles that ship a game already attached to someone else’s login.
  • Payment requested by gift card or untraceable transfer.

A short preorder checklist

  1. Confirm your platform: PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
  2. Choose Standard or Ultimate based on the confirmed contents, not on rumors.
  3. Buy from an official store or established retailer, and keep the receipt.
  4. Check the retailer’s cancellation and refund policy in case the date changes again.
  5. Make sure the purchase falls before 20 November if the Vintage Vice City Pack matters to you.
  6. Free up storage space ahead of launch, since boxed copies still require a download.

Staying updated until launch

Given the game’s delay history, it is sensible to keep an eye on the Rockstar Newswire and the official GTA VI page until release day. Any change to dates, editions or bonuses will appear there first, and retailer listings usually follow.

If the date were to move again, retailers and platform stores set their own rules on cancellations and refunds, so knowing those terms in advance avoids surprises. It is also worth double-checking which edition you actually ordered, since the Standard and Ultimate listings can look similar at a glance. A quick look at your order confirmation today is easier than contacting support on launch week, when demand is highest and response times tend to be slower.
